Background

Melanie Lum was awarded a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at the University of Wollongong in 2016. Ms Lum is a Health Promotion Officer at Hunter New England Health, an Associate Research Fellow at Deakin University and a PhD student at the University of Newcastle. Ms Lum’s PhD research aims to improve the implementation of healthy eating and physical activity programs in early childhood education and care services. She has experience working on large scale health promotion randomised control trials, managing research assistant staff members, providing service delivery and collaborating with a range academic, government, non-government, community, private sector and research institutions.

Research Interest

Ms Lum is interested in dissemination and implementation science research. She is primarily focussed on assessing the effectiveness of health promotion strategies in settings, identifying evidence-practice gaps and translating these findings to have real-world impact.
